Martin Luther King remercie très chaleureusement Yves Montand pour sa contribution au combat qu’il mène en
ayant participé au gala pour l’égalité civique au Palais des Sports. Ce premier concert contre le racisme – organisé par Harry Belafonte – avait rassemblé Yves Montand, Simone Signoret, Hugues Auffray, des politiques et des savants, comme le prix Nobel de médecine Jacques Monod. Le pasteur King a donné à cette occasion l’une de ses grandes allocutions.

of international concern of both the French and American
communities in Paris was an important contribution to
our total struggle. It is encouraging to know that amidst
the attack and confusion of the urgencies surrounding
this period of social change that there are friends of the
