These included digital games and a pop-up arcade, but the real breakthrough was a series of wooden puzzle boxes, painted on the outside and on a grid of small cubes on the inside. These "blocks" allowed FAILE to work on six surfaces and, more importantly, invited turning over and recombining in abstract compositions. This manual "remixing" in the puzzle boxes allowed FAILE to approach painting and his own image archive with a new perspective in the years that followed.
