H. 35 cm This powerful mask most probably represents Pillichamundi, an entity synthesizing the forms of a tiger (pilli) and Chamunda, the fierce aspect of the great goddess. According to tradition, this spirit was sent by Shiva to watch over crops and livestock. Provenance : - French private collection.
